I've recently discovered the vegetable peeler and I can't believe how blimmin great they are! Saves so much time, don't get cramp in my hand from using a knife, and much less waste.
I'm also eating loads of veg now, as I just want to peel with it. Not sure how I've gone all these years with not knowing about it... :-/

What kitchen 'gadgets' could you not do without?

Oh Noth! She was hilarious. I miss her elaborate menus ;)

What do you use a hand blender for, just out of interest? I can only think of one thing, soup, but I may be missing something (like with the potato peeler)

Vodka, my Mum has loads of racks full of the stuff. I was only saying to her yesterday, these wouldn't last long in my house!
pureed veg mainly, mm

Heathfield, that's a very posh bottle opener!

Noth, hahaha. Yeah, I remember her. Had a look at some of her old threads the other day. It's all passionfruit cheesecakes and hundreds of different jams!
I've always wondered about a potato ricer vodka
Question Author
Ah, yes. Of course. My sister uses one for that actually, for her baby.
She was fantastic.
and fruit, obviously, and making breadcrumbs

Some say she's still on here.... ;)
My Victorinox veg peeler, and little 3 inch sharp knife and a citrus zester. Oh and my little electric grinder for spices
Potato ricer - it's a pain in the butt to clean and I seem to flick potato everywhere but it makes the nicest mash.
most fancy gadgets end up in the back of the cupboard, like sandwich makers, those grill type ones, i had one of those George Foreman ones and ditched it, also have an egg poacher, and that only gets the occasional airing. Veg Peeler beats using a knife, as you get a better cut, not too much wastage. A blender is always a good thing to use, for making nice smoothie type drinks, soups of course, i still haven't got around to get myself a really good food mixer, that chops, dices and squishes in equal measure
it wouldn't surprise me..lol
Yeh...pureed veg....also whizz my AM coffee and cream sometimes...to whizz seeds-when I make seed butter. Which reminds me-a coffee grinder-but I use it for spices and...seeds. lol

This is a potato peeler....you connect it to the cold water tap,put your tatties in,turn on...and it 'rumbles' your potatoes clean. Noisy though...

I've got loads of gadgets. I do have a peeler, used for carrots, but prefer to use my small knife which I've had for 44 years, for most peeling jobs. Got an electric can opener which is used a lot, corkscrew, which isn't used at all, stick blender and various other things.
i am more likely to have a serious accident with some of these gadgets, stick to tried and tested, i am no great shakes in the kitchen however, but my pots and pans do get the occasional airing... lol

Lol Noth. As if by magic.... ;)

I agree with the comment regarding most things ending up in the cupboard.
I've got a toastie maker that I can never be bothered to get out and use, and a chocolate fountain that only makes an appearance once a year.
best to declutter..
Reading glasses, for the tiny print on cooking instructions.
