Sorry about the dramatic title, but I need some help, badly.

My son has managed to sit on a black grape, on a light brown leather sofa, and although it's now dried, there is a massive black/purple stain on the seat!! :-((((

How on earth do I get rid of it, without causing any further staining?

flump. Sugar. botox.

Thanks Murray.
Will go and get some right now.

Arghh!
A goodly dollop of Dishwashing soap (or whatever it's called in the U.K. you know the bottled kind that goes in the sink, not the powder that goes in a dishwasher) into a pan of very warm water... swish it around to get a good head of foam on top and apply just the foam to the stain. I use a soft brush (the one used to clean vegetables works well) to work the soap suds into the leather going with the grain... not with a lot of pressure though. When thoroughly worked in (using the suds liberally), use a cloth in clear, warm water to remove the soap and then treat with a good leather cream. Here in the western U.S. we use Saddle Soap or Mink Oil... let air dry. Best of luck!

Yeah, er, thanks for that Conne.
Question Author
Clanad, thanks for that. I was hoping I could use something here.
I know I sound dramatic but it's really really dark.

Murraymints how good is fullers earth powder on stains that have been there for a long time as i had the same problem after sitting on a blackberry on my new grey suede skirt and it left a horrible stain that nothing could get out :(
Oh and good luck madmen!
Saddle soap a good idea after stain has lifted....
H...worth a try...obviously sooner the better but brush with the nap...not too hard...
I'll give it a go :)

Sorry for the slight hijack madmen :)

Well I've managed to get the stain off.... and the colour of the leather has come off with it!

I'm now left with a very pale circle.

Any ideas?
You and yours are stain predictable. :)
Am really surprised a grape made such a bad stain, what did you end up cleaning it with?
Question Author
Tell me about it Soc! :(

Smow, it was a black grape and the stain was really dark.
I used a clean damp cloth, with nothing on it at all, to see if I could get some of the stain out before I used anything else.
The stain has come away, well most of it, but the leather is now really pale?
