pros & cons of hot tub in garden.

hi family are thinking of investing in an outside hot tub any comments as to best ones to buy & whether they are beneficial to all..i,m sure it would get used regularly. thanks .

Somebody in a little town by here had one - youths broke in, not sure what else they did but they were tracked down as they had left their dirty shreddies on the patio...........

We stayed in a little cottgae in the mountains near Granada, and it had a 'rooftop jacuzzi' ie a belfast sink big enough to sit in. A nice lady came round to add chemicals to it so we could sit in other people's pubes and skin cells, but with added hypochlorite. I found out how to drain and refill it after she said ta-ta.

my neighbours have one.. and use it fairly regularly.
Easy to keep hygenic as it chlorinates itself.
Quick to heat up too apparently
My parents in Spain also inherited one and like it too!
I used a friends one once... and it was LUSH!

We have neighbors that did the hot tub thing... here in the U.S. They used it for about a year, maybe a little more and then found it too difficult to maintain. They go rid of it and invested in an outdoor sauna. Not all that big... maybe 6 feet by 8 feet. Takes about 1/2 hour to warm up so they don't need to keep in on all the time and it's easily maintained. They use it a lot and it's great whent he temperature outside is -20 (F) and the snow's blowing past the window...

Nosha...the chlorine may knock the blighters senseless but their corpses are still bobbing around and chlorine doesn't dissolve pubes, scabs or skin cells.

Jacuzzi's are not recommended for people with heart problems (nor are saunas)

I inherited one in Herts...got rid PDQ...cost huge amounts to run and maintain..also...lots of "friends" kept turning up with (some without) cossies..yuk !!!

Thanks everyone for all your very interesting comments- daughter and I had a twilight session at Bath Spa pool as a late christmas present from other half-this is what gave us the idea of investing in hot tub - i'm sure they would be interested to read some of the issues raised!! We as a family-now 4 adults- are not at all 'chavvy' nor inconsiderate of our neighbours nor a 'must have' family- but all quite sporty & have quite strenuous jobs so are looking for the health & chilling out benefits more than anything else. As for the bugs, most tubs are now self cleaning & we will be sure to adhere to basic hygiene considerations (for ourselves & the hot-tub!!) . I don't see anything wrong in sitting in clean water with my (clean) children & husband & am amazed that some find this abhorrent.Have spent the afternoon visiting various dealers within our area & have been impressed with most of what we've seen- so hopefully in a few weeks time we will be soaking our aching limbs in a warm & inviting tub after a hard days work....wine glass in hand...watching the sunset.....

Oh no not after reading snags and mosaics ideas. I cannot see the sense of sitting in a warm bath outside, or even on a covered patio, with any neighbours chancing to look over the fence. I wouldn't share it with any friends or family (not that they are unclean or anything) I don't want to see their bits and bobs, getting out of the hot tub and trailing the water into the house is another thing.
