I wonder whether it's one of those things you use a few times and then get bored with it or get fed up of maintaining it.
Oh the british weather, infection control and keeping it clean, mozzies, really not sure why you would want one.

yes, I think that's the main con: that you wouldn't actually fancy nipping outside in bad weather to use it. Given that most weather is bad...
I would love to be outside in bad weather in a hot tub, not so sure about the infection thing, maybe poor in some dettol first!
I've used a hot tub in an English garden in winter, it was quite pleasant. it does involve a quick dash inside when you get out but that's about the worst bit.
I cannot see the point of having a bath outside at all!!!!!!
It does rather depend who you are sharing it with ...
funnygirl, its not really the same as just having a bath! its the relaxation of the jacuzzi, a glass of wine and sharing the experience with loved ones or family members and friends etc. to do all that in a "hot" tub in cold weather sounds great to me!

exactly ratter15 - my thoughts too!! does anyone out there actually have one ?
No but my neighbours used to - they moved thank goodness. Kids SCREAMING all through the summer holidays, every day all day once they got it. Parents and friends in it at midnight getting more and more pizzed and louder and louder. Then the novelty wore off and eventually they moved much to the relief of everyone else. The next people had it removed.

I'm sure you wouldn't be so inconsiderate to your neighbours, if you have any, o-e.
Why is sitting in a bacterial broth of other people's juices any kind of fun? Indoors or out?
Each to there own but I find them tacky and a somewhat chavvy 'must have' item.

On a more personal note I would never dream of climbing in the bath beside family members and friends so why would I do it just because the bath is in the garden?

Definitely a no from me O-E but I hope you enjoy it if you do decide it's for you and yours :)
I gather they take a LONG time to warm up the water from cold (ie high cost of electricity).

If you want to use them a lot during the summer you need to keep them on all the time (or wait till they warm up) - again more high cost of electricity.

Overll - high cost of electricity.

Also note if you want it in the back garden you may need to hire a crane to get it over the house and into the back garden (depending on the access to your house).

A relative of mine had a neighbour fit a hot tub, and the only way to get it in was to crane it over the top of the house.
''bacterial broth of other people's juices''

Mosaic... you've sold the idea to me...

That suits the scenario I have described exactly.
The few inches above the water level is full of bacteria which you can breathe in.
The chemicals can cause skin rash. Lack of chemicals can cause infections.
You should never drink alcohol before or during use.
Expensive to run.
You've put me off going to the public swimming baths ever again.
I don't have a large bird bath - find that a soup plate on the lawn does just as well.
Ratter, it does not sound good to me!!!
What is wrong with the bathroom and soaking in a nice hot bath with a book and a glass of wine???
You won't use it I often when ou watch the electric meter spinning.
