Good morning!

Due to death in the family [of the animal kind] I have a spare parrot cage that I want to put in the garden for Dave [parrot] to play in. It's one of these....

Anyone have an idea how to keep the rain off it? It's a little rusted in places anyway and I'm not expecting it to last a life time but short of sticking an umbrella on the top I can't think of any thing.

Well, you won't leave him out in the rain, will you?

If it's not too cold then yes. The top of the cage is covered by a solid shelf, I'm more concerned about leaving the cage out in the elements [though it will go in the shed over winter]. I thought about tarpaulin, but a)He'd chew it
b)It'll look pretty naff lol

Any one good at math? lol The cage is sort of triangle shape so would it 'squeeze' round it?
It's that or a little mini gazebo lol

Just measure the cage, they give the dimensions of those little green houses in the ad.
Question Author
I have all the dimensions and the cove is too small, so what I'm sort of saying is as the cage is a triangle I may be able to squeeze it in :0l

Ah sod it, it's only a tenner and seeing as some of us are working today......gotta have something to spend my millions on!

Well those little green houses look like there will be some flex in them, just get the biggest one.
Why am I getting the urge to post Monty Pythons dead parrot sketch ?

What ever happened to common sense.?
You started off wanting to know how to 'Weatherproof a parrot cage' and now you are about to cook your parrot instead.
Unless you are going to sit beside the greenhouse all day, forget it. What happens when the rain stops and the sun comes out ?

We have one of these mini greenhouses alongside our shed on our allotment.
Over the past few weeks the temperature regularly reaches 115 o farenheit.

Put Dave in the greenhouse, and the next thing you will be asking is where do I buy a coffin for a parrot.

No the mini greenhouse is not a good idea ... it is a really bad idea.
Why do you not want it in the house. I think you will find that he may get bored and start plucking his feathers out . Parrots need company.

Wow hate mail.....love it!

Dave is my constant companion. I was looking for a way to cover his outdoor cage when he is not in it so that it doesn't rust. Why in the name of who ever you worship would I want to surround my bird in plastic?

As I have said Wendilla, he is my constant companion, he has a play gym in every room of my house [including his own perch in the bathroom], an indoor cage and now due to the loss of my 7 year old Degus, he has an outdoor cage too!

Any more conclusions the pair of you would like to jump to?

Lisa
Well said Lisa...

What about a kids Wendy house?
Question Author
Don't tempt me Ummmm lol!

He actually has a £400 aviary on the way but not until after I get back off my holidays. I have set the cage up so the kids can put him out on the patio while I'm away....

Gotta love the haters though.... we have no one to play with with out them!
