I second that Noxy xx
thirded
fourthed..
Fifthted, if that's a word. Xx
Never an easy thing to do NOX, thinking of you.
Been thinking about you and your lovely dog xx
I was on another thread and just heard of your bad news Nox. I found this poem recently and I hope that it helps.

I stood by your bed last night; I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying. You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today. Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels; I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today; you tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you; I smiled and said "It's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "Good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.

Susan
That's the first blub of the day, cheers wolf :)
Always a sad time, Nox, but the greatest thing you can do for a faithful companion xx
thinking of you nox x
Oh thank you all so much- her name was Jess and she was an orange mongrel nearly 18 years old, very tired and poorly now, and I had the vet come to the house because she'd been a rescue dog with all sorts of hangups, didn't like anything not in her domain, and hated and was terrified of vets. This chap came and spent a good 10 minutes or so just getting to know her, and she didn't object at all. I couldn't have been more grateful to anyone for the sympathetic way he went about it and it took literally seconds before she just faded on her blanket. I cried my eyes out.
Thank you all so much for your sympathy, I'm a good deal more upset when an animal goes than when a lot of people I've known do, so it's really appreciated. Thank you again.
Big (((((HUG)))) from us all, NOX.. :-((
We all know what it's like NOX. You did right by her and she was loved, that's the main thing. I agree about the pain of losing a pet being harder than sometimes losing a person, I think it's becuase they are always with you, no matter what xx
Big hugs NOX, so sad but the loving thing to do.
Nox :0(

Massive hugs from me xxxx
So sorry Nox :-( You gave her a loving home, and I'm sure a great amount of love, it'snever easy when you have to give the word. ((hugs)) xx

Wolf.. a lovely poem, gave me another tear. x
That brings back memories, NOX. So glad the vet was kind to both Jess and you. Raise a glass to her memory tonight. Hope the children cope ok with the news too xx
