I have just aquired a large cage but it has seen better times. I am assuming it is galvanised steel wire most of it has white powdery oxydisation but some has rusted. What would be the best way to clean it up and possibly paint it. Thanks

Wire brush it wearing a face mask and paint it with Hammerite paint.
You cant paint over galvanise with Hammerite, I think you will need to use a self etching paint or primer.

Wire brush, spray with zinc primer, finish with any oil-based gloss paint.
