What happened to M&S's quality control?
Mens T shirts, the seams are so squiffy when trying to iron them, arghh!!
is this because they outsource their garment making now? maybe not but when they had their various sewing establishments based here in the UK, the quality seemed better to me

Just put on a top I bought in BeWise (or whatever they are now, they keep changing). It cost me £3 and it is perfect in every way. Material washes and irons looking like new and it fits beautifully. Price does not always buy quality.
squiffy seams??? crikey, lets stop the world turning and investigate this abomination right now.

sack those incompetent fairtrade workers right this minute.
Question Author
I suppose you iron in your house then Ankou :-)
no one wants fair trade workers sacked at all, it is up to the Stores themselves to ask for quality goods
lots of problems with M&S quality, not least the sizing, which is off to say the least
look at all the labels, not sure a lot is made in UK now
Last two tops I bought in M&S are terrible. The material is like old rags and they only look good for about an hour after putting them on. After that they are crumpled and creased. The other one I spoke of above is still crisp and clean. Something wrong somewhere.
Question Author
em, it is :-(
and I hope this thread isn't going to be targeted as me being 'racist'
Let's make that clear from the start pleas
Question Author
Star you are right about not needing to pay top prices too
Bless those poor fair trade workers just trying to earn a penny to put food in their mouths. :-)
morning ranty Bobbi!
Question Author
it is a mini rant though carmalee :-)
RATTER..oh pleeeezzzeee don't :-(
Bobbiesox, it is what bad sizing, or made here? you can see info on ethical materials used in some cases but not where the garments are made. unless you check out all labels
lol Sorry Bobbi, sometimes I cant resist.xxx I think these days they can get away with squiffy seems because many people don't iron anymore. I iron all my own clothes including my work uniform. It appears that I am the only member of staff that does. Recently when I asked a member of staff why she doesn't Iron her uniform, she Replied: "I never iron any of my clothes, if it needs ironing, I don't buy it" on asking a few other member of staff, they pretty much all said the same.
Question Author
tbh I am not really bothered where the garments are made em as long as they pass quality control
Question Author
Oh Nooooooooo RATTER, I even iron his socks..:-)
I bought two pairs of linen-mix trousers a couple of weeks ago. I followed the washing instructions but they have shrunk by about 1 and a half inches in each leg. I couldn't be a***d to take them back so I cut off a couple more inches and wear them as cropped but if they had been trousers for work or 'best' I would have marched them back smartly. The quality just isn't there anymore and some of the colours are vile. The majority of women in this country have brown hair and brownish eyes but all their colours are for blue-eyed blondes or people with grey hair; pinks, blues, greys and purples all with a hint of mud.
ironing a T-shirt? The whole point of T-shirts for me is that you don't iron them!
tigerlelley linen is notorious for shrinkage, even following instructions to the letter doesn't necessarily work, as you found out, i would have taken them back and complained.
jno, I live in T shirts but would not bee seen in public wearing a creased T shirt.

They are just about the easiest thing to iron!!
Question Author
not iron a T Shirt jno? it would look as though it had been slept in!
