If England legalised prostitution like some other countries , do you think they could raise a lot of money?Taking into consideration the money saved on policing it at the present wouldnt it seem on paper to be a good idea?

well you would have to create new regulations as well, then there are wages, monitoring and a myriad of other red tape.
and of course a portion of society would be against the idea, maybe not such a good money spinner ..
And would clients get consumer rights- -eg a refund if they weren't satisfied with the service.
How would it raise money? Are you suggesting that earnings would be declared for tax purposes?
they would have to be if it were legit
To me it seems logical that prostitution should be 'legalised'. As the law currently stands, it's not illegal to provide sexual services for gain, or to use such services. It's only illegal to 'solicit' or to 'kerb crawl'. (i.e. it's NOT illegal to 'do it' but it IS illegal to 'advertise it' or to 'ask for it').

That suggests that the law regards prostitution as a 'public order' issue, rather than as a moral one (or a 'public protection' one). If a way around those 'public order' problems could be found, it seems logical that consenting adults should be allowed to do what they want to without interference from the state.
The prostitution Q and the drug Q always seem very similar to me.....prostitution and drug dealing will always take place regardless of crackdowns by Police etc - surely it makes sense to legalise both and deprive the criminal underworld of the profits.

Buenchico it does seem to work in other countries. There's a school of thought that the women are safer and have more rights and protection when its a legitimate business.
