There is no law about it.

As far as I am aware there is no law against sleeping in the same room as your own daughter

OP didnt say it was his daughter, its a step daughter

They also didnt say how old this child is?

I think if the OP is asking they dont feel comfy with it so dont do it. Buy a sofa bed for the lounge and either the child or yourselves can use that and the other use the bedroom
