Some people swear by dusting with a damp cloth others say polish and dry.

What do you say is the most effective?

damp cloth picks up the dust whereby dry dusting just moves it about! If you are using polish I think the effect is the same - I like to use polish because of the smell
I don't polish much ..it attracts more dust especially the silicone type.I only use polish a couple of times a year on my wood furniture and then a non silicone one which feeds the wood.
I always damp dust with a microfibre cloth well wrung out in warm water. We had a discussion about this the other day .

I use the hoover and attachments on everything!!!
I have very bad eyesight so I claim not to see the dust!!!! Lifes too short.
I'm still waiting for shaney to come round and give me a demonstration!!

Put the kettle on (also got out the best china) made some cookies, but she didn't show.. :o(

Dust? what dust?
I have worked in an Operating Theatre for 27 years and we always damp dust, it just stops you moving dust around.
Kim & Aggie from How Clean Is Your House say only use polish once a month. Always use a well squeezed out damp cloth over furniture then buff up with a dry cloth
Damp for sure!

I will dry the vac first if it is really bad and then I get in there with pieces of folded kitchen roll and a spray depending on the surface, as I dont have much wood I like lemon mr muscle as it leaves a nice lemon smell - so people know I have cleaned lol!

The kitchen roll means I can just take a carrier bag around the house with me and when the piece of kitchen roll I'm using gets too dirty I throw it in there with other rubbish I find on my journey, this means no dirty dusters and a clean cloth so I am no just spreading dust around.
Drat ..that tea must be well stewed by now tictactoe.! And I missed out on home made cookies! Double drat.
