I need to buy a new ceiling light, but my electrician has told me there's 'not much ceiling left' (!) in the middle so I need to get either a fluorescent tube or a row of spot lights. I'm a complete light-buying novice so 1) which type do you recommend, 2) do I need a special type for a kitchen, and 3) where is the best place to buy it? Thanks!

I bought some lovely halogen spots on a kind of curved metal rod from Argos - looked lovely, worked fine. They have lots of different styles in there.

Mine was a bit like this...

Thanks, that's just what I'm looking for - I didn't really want a fluorescent tube as I think they're a bit dated, so Argos here I come! All I need now is an electrician to fit it.............
