What is the best way to change colour from brown to grey? Ive tried googling but theres no clear answers. Thanks in anticipation ;-)

Tricky, treated timber tends to leach through most paints - try a primer before painting (use small quantity to test before splashing out).

From your OP it sounds like you want to keep the original timber surface i.e. not to use paint ?

In which case I would try using a strong bleach. The original brown colour was caused by soaking the sleepers in creosote. 

Try fence paint

I would say 'fence paint' too, but some are better than others over creosote.

To be sure... use 'Barn Paint'.  No problem over creosote.
