Now maybe near Aug/Oct will think I have enough money to NOT GET A FULLY FITTED kitchen but you know replace cupboard doors. new sink and taps new doors - new counter tops - I am happy with the quotation but since my fridge/freezer, dish washer and washing machine are all working - it feels a bloody shame replacing them when they are doing ok - however, feel new appliances need to go with the new look. what do you think. thanks.

I have always thought that it was a strange thing to just replace the doors. I don't imagine they wear out faster than the carcasses. The worktops may have taken a bit of wear over the years though. I think it is just one of those fashion/bored with it unnecessary expenses. But if it is what you want, then go for it. As for appliances, my view is replace when they go wrong not on whim, unless you are wealthy and into conspicuous consumption.
Kitchens date, AG, just like any fashion item. If the carcasses are sound there's no point replacing them.

Why do you want to replace your white goods if they are in good working order?
:-)
I don't consider a kitchen a fashion item.
There again I never paid much heed to fashion anyway.
You're a bloke...do you really care if your toaster matches your kettle which matches your cups? :-)

thanks all for your replies - it is just the appliances are old too- but since I am thinking of doing white gloss doors - would like the appliances ie fridge/freezer and dishwasher silver - the way kitchen has been built the door covers the washing machine loosely but if anything was to happen to the w machine - would have to break down a little of the cover of gloss door which I wouldn't want to happen. OG I love everything to match.
If it was within my budget I would buy new appliances to match.

Luckily the only appliance besides the cooker I have in the kitchen is the dishwasher. It matches the cooker :-)

to the men - like my brother - "you live in a man's house"

Not at all, everything matches down to the dog bowls, the question was 'do I really care?'
I care :-) I don't know why because besides the kettle I keep everything in cupboards.

Do you wear white all of the time, ummm

Ummm - apart from micro (naturally enough) - I put rest of appliances in cupboard - my kitchen is not that large so like to have some counter space.
I had my kitchen refitted recently and was dithering about replacing my two year old dishwasher so that I could get an integrated one, as I was concerned that the cream gloss units and the white dishwasher would jar. I finally decided that I was too mean to lash the cash unnecessarily and barely notice the difference.

If you already have white goods and are planning on white gloss units I'd leave be and replace when the time comes. I know you want silver but in the meantime white goods and white gloss will not look out of place.
Don't forget that appliances can be painted to match cupboards. I've done that a few times.
One of my neighbours now has a "Farrow & Ball" dishwasher ;o)
No, my appliances are silver so I wear black, which I think compliments it.
For heaven's sake - a kitchen is a working part of the home isn't it? if bits aren't broke don't fix them. If you can cook meals (cooker), wash dishes (dishwasher) and wash clothes (washing machine) who cares if they don't match. Sorry - life's too short to think about fashions in kitchens.
Lol ummmm. I agree though.
That's why all our cats are black and white, so they look good on the kitchen worktops
