is it right to cut any branches that cross over and how far back do you cut a blossom tree now that its not flowering

Hi Squire, Yes, It sounds like a flowering crab apple you have, its a good idea to cut out any stragly or crossing brances as they can rub together and may cause damage, or worse open it up to allow infection to get into the wound.
Cut the crossing branches back to a main bough in the winter, as long as there is no frost about Good Luck Tbird+
