I recently asked about bumble bees under my shed. Once I knew they woudnt bother me I have got quite used to them. Unfortunately over the last two days they have started walking about unable to fly and are all dying off at an alarming rate which we all find it quite upsetting. is this normal at this time of the year?

Hope this helps. I found it quite interesting.........
Our bumble bees, having done a great job in the garden, have now disappeared and their home in the rockery wall is empty.
have you noticed that wasp like hover flies have taken their place tooj

I have had hoverflies and bees all summer. The bees are now fallingto the groiund and racing round on the on the floor buzzing their wings but seem unable to take off again. As they will obviously die I just wandered if it was natural at this time of the year?
It depends on the wetness and temperature at night . It sounds as if they are coming to te end of their lives. I saw several today on the lavender still
buzzing around but not so many as a week ago.
