my tumble dryer is making a strange sound... when i turn it on it makes a thudump thudump sound... any ideas,,, i have a screwdriver and am not scared to open the beast up and fix it if its possible

is it heating up ?
is the drum turning by hand ?
is the drum turning, both directions when it's powered up ?

would be the first thing id do... as 4 heating up - yes it is. turning by hand - yes. turning both ways? - i dunno, its to annoying to let it continue... thudump thudump thudump...............etc

and i've been jumping out my car, then switching it off...... thot i was doing something wrong knobbs

wait... this is diy ? ? .. am gettin out o here
look inside the drum, at the back there might/should be 3 or 4 screws which connect the drum to the chassis and drive wheel, because of the nature of the machine heating and cooling you might find that 1 or more of these screws has worked its way slightly loose. retighten any loose screws, they might only tighten up by 1/4 of a turn but thats enough for the drum to bump when turning. hope this helps.

thanks gordy..... i've opened it up and it was the bearing that was connected to the drum that was sheared,,, (so you were nearly right)... had a look on t'internet for replacement but nothin for thet make... think am goin to my mums with a barrow load of damp boxers...
