I'm about to have a wooden floor (engineered wood panels) laid in the busiest room in my house - the dining room is in the middle and we pass through it to get to the kitchen, the stairs and the living room, and carpets don't last five minutes - they all end up with marks near the doors. We don't wear shoes indoors. We chose real wood rather than laminate because scratches and dints won't ruin the look, but I don't really know how I'll clean it in the normal course of the housework. I know I'll vacuum over it first, but guess I won't wash it like tiles. Any help would be much appreciated.

In any case there should be a leaflet about the care of your floor when it is supplied and laid.
