First Fix stage - what does this include?

We are in the process of having an extension built, and during the negotiations with the builder, we agreed to have 2 rooms (study and shower room) completed to first fix stage in order to keep costs down. Now our builder is trying to charge us to install hot, cold and waste water feeds to the shower room.

In my opinion/understanding of the term "First Fix", these things should be included along with electrical cabling to socket/switch boxes (but not including fitting of switches, sockets, light fitting etc) - have I understood correctly, or got it wrong again?

Any clarification/experiences would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

It includes the pipes that go under the floors or behind/inside the plasterboard. Such pipes then emerge at stub ends from the wall or floor. Supply pipes or waste pipes that are then fitted along the wall to link to where the appliance is, are second fix. They can't be fitted at first fix because they are in the way for plastering.
Depending where the pipework comes from depends how much is done at first fix - the routing along the wall could be quite long.
Regarding waste, or would expect 110mm (grey) soil pipes to be first fix, but most (white) 30/40mm pipe is fitted second fix - between the waste outlet and the soil pipe.
the phrase first/second fix applies to most trades and if you look at what you have written and use as a comparison then you have virtually answered your own question
first fix brings a supply to a certain position but does not allow for termination or connection
i would,nt say you have got it wrong but there is a big, big learning curve with the buiding trade and more experienced people than you get it "wrong" every day
holyrood, british library, wembley, T5 heathrow to name but a few. in our own homes it just feels so personal though
and definately hurts the wallet. good luck
