my fathers house is about 60 years old and the large stone supporting the eaves at one end of the house has broken in half.is it possible to get a cast iron angle support to fit onto the wall to replace the half of the stone that dropped off. the original stone had two steel bars running through it but these have rusted away causing the break

Probably, but this really needs someone on site to inspect it and propose an appropriate solution. Generally the roof is supported on the inner leaf of a cavity wall, not the outer.
