A few weeks ago we were talking to a retired Gentleman who offered to make us a lovely garden bench, he impressed us with his banter of:

"I make them the old fashioned way, I dont use any nails or screws, and you just pay for the wood"

We jumped at it, he said I will put your names on a heart in the middle (not really our type of thing but that's what he want to do for us) anyway yesterday he phoned up and said it was finished could he bring it around to the house.

We were so pleased to be getting this lovely garden bench, made by a true craftsman :-)

He was so delighted to present us with it, he looked so proud!!

Well, he was probably doing his best.
Awwww... ;-)
Looks like I made it! Hope it didn't cost you too much.
Sort of rustic is it not, it looks as though it belongs to Hansel and Gretel.
Heart is a bit naff. You could always make some cushions for it....
And!!!

Ron.
well, that's unique :o)
Along the lines of Anngels suggestion, you could always make a fire out of it.
lol mate. Cool in a sort of weird way.
Better keep it inside : )

Mind you, I have just priced up a premium European Oak bench with a mate, and that will run to about £1600.

Ratts ............. "donate" it to Northam Burrows ;o)

ps ....... Hi Sara :o)
perception - I'm sure many like this interpretation of bygone rural arts - not me, but I'm sure many do.
yes, unique it is and a very kind answer at that, lol! You should see the table he made, big hefty table with two different sized legs? Mind you, he is convinced he is a master craftsman, lol. Difficult to know what to do here, as we really don't want to offend him and he keeps offering to make more for us, as he is bored at home. I can't actually sit on the bench, as it is too low and the back sooo uncomfortable, but maybe there is an "Adams Family" out there who would love it!!

Actually --- quite like it----- can you wrap it and send it please.
Looks like a toilet seat in the back - could be useful for the outdoor khazi.....

think of (i) a bit of rural sculpture with some functionality (ii) a talking point with family and guests (iii) how wonderful that enormous dog of yours will look on it, strecthed out if you put cushions on it as per Anngel's suggestion.
Question Author
He has written my name iAN small i and then capitals!!

Carakeel has bad legs and back, the seat is so low she cant sit on it unaccompanied or she will never get up from it, the back is vertical and almost impossible to sit on with any degree of comfort. the huge gaps in the joints are filled with mastic mixed with sawdust.

We cant live with it, its got to go.
Or "It is so wonderful, we must donate it to the benefit of the community and put it on the village green" - or outside your local.
............. er ........... I hope he doesn't use AB .......... :os
Looks like it would neatly fit one of your dogs as a low seat, though....
