My dad's a keen amateur family historian. He's looking for a decent computer programme to help him with his research. There's a few on the market. Which is the best one?

ComputerActive reviewed genealogy software in isuue 175.  Roots Magic was recommended andI bought it as a Christmas present (so I don't know how useful it will be).  You can download a demo from http://www.rootsmagic.com/

I've used Family Tree Maker for years - find it very easy to use and it is quite amazing in what it can do. I've not  though,  found all the discs which come with it, any use to me, living in UK
