i remember in school seeing a dramatisation of a female servant using her arm instead of a plank of wood as a door jam to allow her master to escape. all i can remember is that it was probably the middle ages and it was probably a scottish noble. any one got any ideas who this was??

The master was actually King James I (1406-37). Whilst the brave servant blocked the door, the king attempted to escape through a sewer tunnel. The king had previously ordered the tunnel to be blocked to avoid losing his tennis balls, and he was trapped and killed by his pursuers.
