Is it true that after the capture of Heinrich Himmler by the allies in the last days of the war British intelligence had him murdered to prevent him from disclosing that he had been offering a conditional surrender in negotiations with the British long before the d-day invasion . Churchill`s insistence on an unconditional surrender prolonged the war and sentenced thousands more to death .

David Irving thinks so, but he is a somewhat unreliable historian

Nonsense, if they wanted to keep him quiet they'd have just hidden him in South America.
Like we did with Martin Borrmann. ;-)
OK, and?

Surely it was Hitler who resisted conditional surrender.
Unconditional surrender was important because we did'nt want a separate peace (Russia more than anyone) Stauffenberg wanted a separate peace with the west so that they could continue prosecute a war in the east.
Hitler was embarrassed by Hess' actions, and the evidence to suggest he ordered it is very slim. Decisions in the 3rd Reich could be made very quickly without overt orders by Hitler so it's more likely that Hitler lamented Britain's involvement and that was his inspiration.
The veneraton of Hess by neo-Nazis is laughable as he was universally disliked by his peers and Nazi followers of the era.
You have to realise Claymore is a birrova 5th columnist.
Himmler had no mandate to negotiate peace with anyone.

Fifth columnist......" A member of a subversive organisation who tries to help an enemy invade". Hmm, I suppose you could call the Labor party a subversive oganisation, but who in their right mind would want to invade England at the moment? cheers Ev.
I well recall the account by a British army Sergeant in a BBC news broadcast, who said something like this,.
After Himmler was arrested he began biting his fingernails [taking poison] and died. .A raincoat or greatcoat was then thown over him.
