You mean autarchy (absolute authoritarian rule by a leader or dictator). Causes of Franco's dictatorship: reaction against the Republic and it's democratic socialist policies. Franco led the right-wing in a coup against the Republic, resulting in the Spanish Civil War. When Franco's fascist forces (the Falangists) won, Franco set up one-party rule, with himself as absolute ruler. Consequences: Franco abolished multi-party democacy and suppressed all opposition to the Grand Fascist Council. He reintroduced free market capitalism, but forbade all trade union activity. He restored the rights of landowners and crushed women's rights and sexual freedom.
I thought it was autocracy?
