Episode IV was released in 1977..

Episode V in 1980

and VI in 1983

Yes it was in a Galaxy Far Far away....

It is hard to convey to people today just how much of an impact Star Wars had on audiences.

Now, you c an get those graphics on your mobile, but in those days it was literaly breath-taking. I still remember sitting in the local cinema being enthralled and captured by the sheer scale of the effects, and the imagination of the good old 'good -v- bad' story line. Fabulous.

Sorry Homer, Star Wars was released in 1977,

"Episode IV" was 'released' much later. ie - It wasn't known as that when originally released.

Star Wars was released in the UK on 2nd January 1978 (same day as Blake's 7 was on BBC) :)
Oh, and I think it became 'Star Wars: A New Hope' when it was re-released later in 1978 (and success was known and the go ahead for sequels were given).
