I see that Bordeaux Superieur is back, at £2:99 instead of £4:99. Good value for money, although its a trifle on the dry side for me.

might give that a shot, got my triathlon thing tomorrow, need to treat myself after (during...)

McF....be early, as these wines are never very plentiful....a couple of pallets sometimes.
Good luck for tomorrow, MccFluff. I hope it doesn't rain on you.
oh... lidl opens at 8, i should be cycling by then!
Bordeaux is not my thing.

Their Amarone on the other hand...
I've only got one bottle of their (ordinary) Bordeaux left from a previous weekend deal, so I might get tempted into buying a case of the 'Superieur' tomorrow morning ;-)

I wish I had bought more of that Cotes du Rhone, at the same price, as I had the last glass last night.

I am having some home-cooked pasta tonight, so had to buy a bottle of Merlot in the Co-op this morning.
No you didn't have to Mikey. You could have eaten the pasta without drinking wine.

Mind you, I'd have done the same! :-)
Question Author
A bowl of my super home-cooked pasta sauce, with meatballs, without a glassette of red ?

Unthinkable !
I know. ;-)

Question Author
Actually I add a very generous glass of red wine to the sauce, mixed in with the red pesto, and dash of Balsamic Vinegar !
Sounds lovely, Mikey. Do you cook the meatballs in the sauce, or do you cook them separately? I have never had/cooked meatballs.
Question Author
Tilly....to be honest I use the ones that the Co-op sell....those ones that are like the ones you get in IKEA.

I also slice a Peperami very thinly, and fry that with the onions and red pepper !
Thank you, Mikey. Enjoy your dinner. :-)
Aldi has wool next week!.... :-)
Question Author
On a serious note, does ALDI do a "superweekend" with these kind of bargains ?

Because we have about 5 Lidls and only 1 ALDI, near me, I hardly ever shop there, so I am really not sure what they are like.

I don't think they ave those in-store bakeries, like LIDL.
Thanks for that, gness. Eldest grandsproglet has a birthday end Sept. and one of the presents I bought her is a kit for making pom-poms, so I'm on the hunt for wooll. Brill! :)
I'm not sure Mikey - they do special offers but don't think it's a weekend thing
They have Specialbuy days on Sunday and Thursday, Mikey.....well worth looking at online....

The bakery in Lidl is really good......by far the best....x
This reminds me of the time i posted on here that i only like sweet wines - not medium or dry .

I was called a philistine - i haven't recovered :-)
