This afternoon has been a bit surreal.
Went to a reading/discussion group today. I love books and reading and my mate and I decided to give a local reading group a go. We turned up at the venue, introductions etc were made and the discussion on the previous months book commenced (some Agatha Christie book).
The group consisted of one bloke and several middle class ladies. I felt distinctly uncomfortable (being an overweight, tattooed, skinhead...)
The discussion went wildly off topic and somehow got on to the topic of sexism, racism and then ultimately religion and the muslim terroism problem of today.
Ive never seen such a venemous ,heated and angry 'discussion' amongst 'middle class' ladies.
Will definitly go again, turned out to be quiet fun....

Middle Class Ladies........in Stoke? Or did you go 'Up Leek'?
Middle class ladies have hearts and opinions too, they're not all jam and Jerusalem!

Wait until the book of the month is a bodice ripper.....you'll be really shocked.
Handbags at dawn?

Girls can be very *** once they get started. Body armour might be a good idea for the next session.
Sounds like AB.....
I do hope so...keep us updated!!

No Tilly, surprisingly it was in stoke library.
Didnt realise there were any 'ladies' left in stoke itself...
They probably drove in from Trentham.

///They probably drove in from Trentham.///
Hahah, yes, one of them WAS from Trentham actually Tills.
I was born and brought up in Bentilee so you can see the discrepancy?
I can but that doesn't matter. I'm sure you said your tuppencewoth, just as they did.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. Good luck with 'Mockingbird'
Out of interest, where were the others from, Nailit?
Question Author
Tills, one was from the villas, another was from somewhere in Newcastle, the others, no idea. All very well to do though...until religion was mentioned! Might have bring up politics next time. haha.
Middle class ladies are the worlds best at losing their cool, it's that thing of looking demure but simmering depths..
Question Author
^^^certainly seems that way^^^^
The Newcastle lady would have come from 'The Westlands'!

Well, the prejudice and racism in 'Mokingbird' should engender some heated discussion. Enjoy yourself. :-)
Question Author
Ah, the Westlands. Did some work around there when I was younger. What a bunch of middle class munters.
