can any believer in religion please tell me why an almighty, omnipotent god needs people to do his bidding here on earth?
Had a conversation with a couple of JW door knockers a few days ago who were convinced that they were doing gods work, I asked them why he cant do his own work. if he wants me to know about the bible why cant he tell me himself? Its something that ive noticed with others....evangelical christians, mormons etc. Its the same with muslim fanatics who believe that commiting attrocities is doing gods work. If god's got a problem with infidels why cant he sort it himself?
I'd be genuinely interested to hear from anyone who believes that they are doing gods work and tell me why god cant do things for himself.

There's a programme about Mormons later this week - how they have to give up contact with their family when they join up. That doesn't sound very family-friendly to me....
I can't understand, given His reputation, how anyone could justify doing His bidding here on Earth, let only promote, glorify and worship such a monster. Hell or no Hell, intellectually and morally, it's the coward's way out.
I'm a complete non believer, how can any 'God' ignore all the many wrongs that are going on in the world? All the believers, followers, fanatics are hiding behind the facade of 'God' for their own aims!!!!
It's partly because that by not doing things himself God gives humans a chance to do it on his behalf, thereby showing themselves to be true believers and earning the best the eternal afterlife has to offer, and partly because God doesn't actually exist.

Thanks for replies. Really would like an answer from a 'believer' explaining why god cant be @rsed to do his own work though. Always found it amusing that religionists think they are doing the work of an almighty deity as if he would actually NEED someone to do his work for him. Very bizarre.
I know theres at least one muslim and one JW in this section and I would like to hear from them.
How can people on earth be expected to give you answers. Even if with our finite minds we suggested reasons we don't really know and you can't judge so bit of a pointless question!
Question Author
not pointless to me grasscarp. If people are telling me that they are doing gods will then I think its a reasonable question to ask why god cant do his own will...
So you want mortals to answer for God .....
There you go nailit, how can the feeble finite minds of humans understand the wishes of an omnipotent creator? Yet some do against all the odds apparently, it must be a miracle, even more proof that god exists as if it was needed. How plausible did that sound? :o)
Question Author
err, yes. if they claim that they are doing gods will. Whats the problem?
Question Author
its a miricle jom, thats it, im converted.
By doing "Gods will on earth" you are suggesting you know what god wants. Are you therefore not speaking/answering for god?
There should be some believers who can answer. You can't believe something you don't understand.
Pixie, that is the whole point of belief, it saves bothering to understand, after all some things are beyond understanding, particularly belief :o)
All is show you don’t know your Bible.

Jehovah sent Jesus to the earth for the purpose of vindicating His universal sovereignty and ransoming the world of mankind,

He became an object of amazement, particularly to mankind. This was as foretold in Isaiah 52:13, 14: “Look! My servant will act with insight. He will be in high station and will certainly be elevated and exalted very much. To the extent that many have stared at him in amazement—so much was the disfigurement as respects his appearance more than that of any other man and as respects his stately form more than that of the sons of mankind.

This rare work he faithfully finished, just as he confessed in his prayer to Jehovah God, saying: “I have glorified you on the earth, having finished the work you have given me to do.” (John 17:4) He is an example to all of JW to fellow as true servants of God.

Jesus also declared that one of the big events that would take place world wide in the last days of this system of things would be a great preaching work concerning the kingdom of God. Jesus prophesied: “And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.”—Matt. 24:14.
^^ Well there you have it. Hope this clears everything up satisfactorily.
Here we go again! People on both sides of the argument putting forward a worthless caricature of the real thing, rooted in a degree of ignorance and prejudice. The version of Christianity triumphantly dismissed here is, as usual, a version subscribed to only by seriously weird types.
God is NOT an interventionist.
Hello, Khandro. Thankyou for your friendly note the other week.
Although I notice yet another entry (opacity) has been added to the debit column of the VE ledger.
