Is there anyone on here who is a genealogy "expert". Trying to get information about my grandfather who sailed on the SS Beltana from Liverpool to Adelaide on the 9th of July 1912.

My grandmother died in 1908 and my grandfather left behind 3 children when he left Scotland, one of whom was my dad.

Really don't want to waste money going up blind alleys, so if someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

If you can get to a library when it cools down you should be able to get onto Find My Past and I think that they have passenger lists etc., ancestry only offers them at the highest rate.
I don't know anything about genealogy buts there is info on Google.

This seems to offer details of that voyage.
familysearch.org may give you some details from Austrailia, it's the Church of the Latter Day Saints site and very comprehensive.
