Just had a renewal quote from Saga for house and contents. They have increased it by 25% to £623% last year they increased it by 23%. I think they are being a bit naughty, so I am going to have a look round at what is available. Anyone know of any reasonable companies that are easy and helpful to deal with? Thanks for any response.
I know it should be in insurance but get a bett response in CB.

Ignore second % sign, also should be better not bett.
Took out our Buildings and contents insurance with Sheilas Wheels a few weeks back, good cover and a good price.

Thanks Tony will have a look.
I'm with E-Sure. For the car as well. I'm happy, well as happy as you can be giving them your hard earned.

Thanks Jeza, will look at that one too.
I find Churchill very good

Thanks Ironmongery, has anyone used rias?
Caran, you may as well have a look on one of the insurance comparison sites, you know Meerkat, Opera singer etc.
I have had quotes of them in the past ( Rias ) their prices were not very competitive.
I'm also with Sheila's Wheels.. a fair price, much less than yours!
the comparison sites don't take into account how GOOD the cover and customer satisfaction is.
RIAS is a Which? recommended provider - along with LV, NFU Mutual, M&S and John Lewis Insurance.

I will have a look at comparison sites. What do you think of my quote from saga? We have a two bed detached house, no garage, only tiny garden. How do you think that warrants £623 per year?
Bloody hell Caran, are you sure it's not Buckingham Palace.
Saga are very expensive. We don't pay half that - we're with John Lewis.

Tried comparison sites. Looks like we are uninsurable. We had a claim 2years ago for water escapement, valve at back of washer flooded the house, total ground floor flooded. Also we put in a claim for the conservatory moving away from the house but saga wouldn't cover it so no claim made but still shows on records. So not sure what to do now!
Try going to an insurance broker and give him all the details - I'm sure he could get a better quote than £623.
Our house (contents only) insurance is with M & S and it includes a whole year's travel insurance for all of us (think it was aout £20 more than just the travel insurance on its own). Also have my car insured with them and its gone down this year.
Have you looked at marks and spencer or NFU?

Not tried going directly to companies yet, will do that tomorrow.
Caran - try Ageas, we had to "barter" them down through Swinton Insurance but in the end we got no end of a reduction from the initial quote. Never accept their first quote, all companies are so desperate for business you can almost hold them to ransom!
