Having watched the dispatches programme on c4 last nite I am wondering if there are any wine experts out there that can recommend what to look for when buying wine the programme didnt put me off drinking wine altogether but I want to know how to select the good from the bad without only buying organic any ideas?

When buying french wines look at the top of the bottle. Only buy if it's got Recoltant on it. It's not necessarily dear but shows it hasn't come from a co-operative, so the grapes are from the same vineyard.
I don't drink other wines so can't help for other countries.
what wines do u want red white or rose xxxx
Wolf Blaas are always a sterling choice, especially for reds. You can guarantee a rich ripe grape is used every time.

Avoid Blossom Hill unless you wanna get peshed on the cheap or are having a steak and want some cheap tipple to accompany it.
have to admit Prangy cheap wine is not nice it tastes like vinegar to me so if i get cheap wine get gallo family rose i like that one
its the only one i like mmmmmm
Gallo rose my gf likes that stuff.. lol she gets very peshed in summer on it :D I find it tastes like water... not that i complain.
