Hello... Had a meal once... where I ordered olives .. cured meats.. etc as a starter... there was a little dish that came with it, that had balsamic vinigar & olive oil in it.. to dunk your bread in.. naughty i know...cooking a meal this weekend for frinds and would like to do this as a starter.. can anyone tell me..if I can just lob some Balsamic & oil into little dishes.. or is more complicated than that... be grateful for any ideas..Ta everso Mrs C xx

It has to be nice oil and decent balsamic....but yes, its that easy.
In an Italian restaurant that we go to, they just pour the oil and vinegar on to a little side plate. You say it's naughty but it's much healthier that putting loads of butter on your bread.
Get some nice Italian ciabatta bread.

Boy I'm hungry now.

Sandy.. I think it down to personal taste... most recipes say more oil than balsamic...which is how I think I'll do it... your invited too !! lol Mrs C xx

Don't mix them and make sure the oil and the balsamic are really good quality ones.
My husband is italian and goes for olive oil on its own. He puts olive oil on almost anything. We get through a lot of extra virgin olive oil and also Parmesan cheese.
How's his cholesterol level grasscarp?
Yep - good quality, personally, I like a twist of cracked pepper in it.....
Thanks for that link grasscarp, my missus is always moaning at me for using olive oil when I'm cooking, she insists on fry light spray
Mediterranean diet is healthy. Tell her Elvis.
Put the olive oil in the bowls first. It's a lot healthier than butter or processed spread.
Lob away, there's nothing naughty about it! The Mediterranean diet is very healthy and they're doing it all the time...
