Just bought real good steak meat from a real good butcher and I want to slow cook them tonight.

What is the better way

I was going to brown them in an ordinary pan with tiny cut onions then place them on top of carrot parnip and large onions with a taste of beef cube. It is a long time since I did these how much water should I put in thanks. Also high or low and for how long. I am hopeless re slow cookers.

when do you want to eat it? Slow cookers are best when you run them for 8 hours or so - beef wont cook in 2 hours in a slow cooker. Also best steak in my opinion isn't great in a slow cooker, which is best for cheap cuts of meat you can make really tender over a long time

I meant good meat - but is still braising steak so slow cooking will it will be. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
In that case, Connemmara I would save it for tomorrows tea. It is a bit late in the day for firing up the slow cooker.

well it's your own choice re ingredients. I would only put a small amount of water in - say 100 mls. When do you want to eat it?4 hrs on high, 8 hrs on low
