Went to the chicken factory shop today and got a large chicken and four packs of southern fried chicken with BBQ sauce (all packaged for Morrisons). If I'd bought it in the supermarket it would have cost me £18 (the southern fried chicken would have been two for £6 and £6 for the chicken). Anyone bored enough to have a guess at what I paid?

A chicken factory is a factory that makes food out of chicken (this one supplies Morrisons and another submarket - can't remember which one).

Could I get on my high horse and just say I eat organic chicken.

I was in Tescos HO the day BSE was confirmed. The comment of my host was "think that beef is a problem - then you should think of chicken"

In short time for a little clucker going around the farmyard, 6 - 9 months to hit 3lb meat weight, In a battery on the tasty "a la Matthews or Tyson diet" 6 weeks,

MMmmmm lovely steroids.

Should see my tits now.

Hi DTC - I can't afford organic chicken and wouldn't have bought this chicken at £18. For us, it's a case of buying what we can afford and making sure that our children eat their five portions of fruit and veg a day and have a proper, sit-down, family tea.
It wouldn't be Padleys by any chance would it ? (The factory I mean)
I can understand sherrard - but is there a good cheap farm shop around you? We now have one in Truro here and their prices are unbelievable....and their carcasses etc make good stock for soups and stews. I reckon 3 meals from a chicken but with your numbers would reckon 2 plus a soup stock (chicken, a risotto, soup)
Question Author
Hi Hellywelly4 - it's not that one and I can't remember what this one is called.

Sorry DTC, didn't mean to sound ar$ey, I will have a look around but the nearest farm shop type place around here is a bit poncey and has the prices to match.
