I'm trying to think of something that I can easily do a meat and non-meat version of as I personally don't think its a proper meal if it doesn't have meat in it so don't want to cook an all-veggie meal but don't want to do something totally different for the veggie - any ideas please? Thanks

I bet you would make me a lovely Kedgeree K : ) xx
I actually went out today to get live mussels...but they didn't have any :-(

We have NO fishmongers in Northampton anymore. The only place we can get our fish is in the supermarket. That's a real shame. I like it all though...well so far. Wouldn't eat one of those deadly Japanese ones?

I'm not a massive fan of meat. Duck is my favourite...I find that to have a different texture though.
bushbaby_de........ethandron along with viv ( my wife) and me are, I think, quite accustomed to folks getting confused with our names. I know I've been called allsorts.:-)

I know the Ed doesn't like digressions from the thread and often removes them. However I am chancing my arm on this one and saying 'Hope you are well eth along ron.'

Sorry,if I am being a bit pushy....but I do like Curry and suggest again that,as you also like the dish, it could be the answer to your problem.

Ron.
Yeah ... Don't bother looking in Fish Street! lol
Shame on the lack of fishmongers......

I love wild duck....how are you on venison/pheasant etc though there is an art to the cooking as too often folk over cook it/don't let it rest properly.

Ron - I hope Ed doesn't kill my thread as its my longest yet! I feel like I'm hosting chatterbank!

I am liking the curry suggestion lots and have a recipe I can probably tweak to suit. I might try that indian cheese in it as well. Its a good excuse for poppadoms and naans too :) But I WILL be saving the other suggestions so I don't have to ask again in the future!!

DT - I had the most amazing venison with shallot tatin and blackberry puree on Thursday!
Sausage and mash ( quorn sausage for your veggie guest ) should go down a treat, I love it with baked beans.Ron
This won't be killed .. there is too much entertainment value in it .. as well as the cooking : )
Sounds an interesting dish as to the flavours, venison when cooked so the juices ooze between the meat fibres, well yum.....

With that, I am off to the sack and will leave you folk thinking of your curries and a-trumpeting, especially if there are cauliflower accompaniements.

Night
The Ed will not kill your thread; but he might remove my postings.

Ron
A sandwich for the Veggie.
Never tried it DT....I did buy some phesants in a villiage pub once...but never cooked them. There are loads of villages round this way..

Al....did fish street ever sell fish? You're much older than me remember?? xxx

Vegetable soup. Toasted cheese sandwich, including ham or corned beef for non-vegetarians with a salad . Followed by fresh fruit salad.
^^^ For a dinner party??
I would have thought so Ummmm .. must look that up.
Went to a Dr Who filming in Fish Street once behing arcades : )

Much!!! ? lol
Dinner Party ... A Cheese toastie : )

Real 'Come Dine With Me' stuff there.
I am now off to bed. but, before turning-in, I must mention Quorn as a meat substitute.

You can buy it in most Supermarkets and it is manufactured from a fungi which is similar to mushroom. It comes in all sorts of shapes and sizes and is cooked as if it were meat. The following link could be worth a peep;-

Hi Bushbaby, as Welshlibranr says, you can try stuffing peppers or tomatoes. My mum makes dolmades which are stuffed vine leaves but she also uses peppers. The filling is mainly rice with onions, herbs and a few spices. Demonstration on YT link:-
