Ran out of salt today, had to have tomatoes in my sandwiches saltless also mashed potatoes later, went for the pepper good flavouring but still missed the salt, I know most foods are full of salt, I do limit mine, what would you miss salt on!
there's actually enough salt in foodstuffs to avoid adding it and meet the body's needs - which are principally in nerve message exchange, along with a potassium exchange. Excess salt in the body can lead to increased blood pressure....... The only major caution is when it is really hot outside or hard exercise and thats when the body asks for some more.....
The one thing I like some extra salt on though is french fries - along with some mayo...........
I use a fair amount of salt in my cooking. Some salt is necessary for everyone, and I am fortunate in that I have been advised by a specialist to eat more salt due to my low blood pressure.
deffinatley, i never have salt in the house, i really hate the taste of salt, and never add any into my food. when i have a jacket or fish n chips, i always say no salt please.
oscarina, you will get used to it. just reduce a bit at a time then you wouldnt need it ever again... without salt you get to taste proper food, salt is just a flavour enhanser (sorry cant spell) bit like MSG. they can be very addictive thats why alot of ppl loves chinese food
there's a lack of logic to that point - not all Chinese establishments use MSG and some of us love Chinese food withouit MSG - and esp if you have lived out there as I have (Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu and HK)
No need to miss salt. There are alternatives that taste as good without the "dangerous" sodium.. No Salt is the one I use. I can't tell the difference. Personally, I only ever salt potatoes when I am roasting them, otherwise I let butter add the salt. LOL
