I'd like to get a blender but will literally just use it for soups, smoothies and maybe the occasional pasta sauce but I'm definitely not a chef or a baker so don't need a top of the range thing by any stretch of the imagination!

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thank you :c)

Hi china, some of the supermarkets own, are cheap and cheerful and will do the stuff that you ask,,,
I got my hand held one from Tescos Value for about a fiver. Its perfect for what you want as thats exactly what I use mine for.
I've got cheap ones in the past but find they don't last. Latest one is from Argos for about £25...and it's great.
Depends on how much you've got to spend. Have a good look round and check that the bowl bit sits on the motor firmly and securely. And check that the lid fits snugly, you don't want to put something liquidy in the bowl and then the lid doesn't fit properly .....
Kenwood and Moulinex are always good makes.

do you want a hand-blender, or one of the other sort?
have a look here china, lots to choose from.

i can use it without screaming

Thanks all! I think I'm leaning towards hand held actually as I really won't use for much else but will have a look at all those links later :c)
I have a sainsburys basics hand blender and it's brilliant! Really sturdy and high powered, and only about £4!
I think the really cheap ones have trouble with turning solids into liquids and the higher the watts the more power it has so maybe buy something in the midrange section just in case in the future you need it for something else.
The ultimate for me would be the swiss made bamix, its amazing, makes cream out of powdered milk, amongst other things, think its £100+, got a 10 year guarantee, maybe one day.....
Go for a hand-held. I have a Braun that I paid a tenner for about 6 years ago....it's still going strong.
