the only nice thing my mum can cook is a fruit crumble, but even that goes slightly wrong.

Even though we don't add juice to it, juice always bubles over the top . Also the crumble topping doesn't cook properly and is still doughy even when the very top is starting to burn, but if we made it realy thin, then even more juice would spew out of the top, so we can't win.

How do we solve thewse two problems?

So your father only cooks rubbish that you won't eat, and your mother can't cook......
Question Author
basically, yes.

Dad only cooks unhealthy stuff with beef/ lamb gravy and mum unsuccessfully tries to cook shepherds pie, spag bol and the nicest thing is crumble, but it could be better.
Hello Mollykins, tell your mum to add a couple of ounces of milk powder to the crumble mix. It will give it a lovely creamy flavour.

ok, but will that work for my problems and how does it actually solve the overflowing jucies and not cooking properly problems? It tastes fine it jsut doesn't cook right.
Apparently, the juice is SUPPOSED to bubble up through the top !!

we always think it looks messy and weren't suposed to do that.
Cook both separately and place together before serving.

pmsl @ cooking seperately........
Crumble is meant to be oozy, and messy, and sensual ...

Although, Molly ... you're a bit young for all that.

You could cover it with foil (to stop it burning) if you wanted to cook it for longer and then just take the foil off to brown it.
with homemade custard....again separately :)
oh I like it with ice cream as well.......
Question Author
