crackling from a ham joint?

as i was removing the rind from my cooked ham joint - it occured to me how similar it was to the rind on a pork joint. As that makes wonderful crackling, i wonder if this would do the same, and has anyone tried it?

i've just made some! It was delish - and not as salty as you'd think.
