chefs are always showing recipes using brown shrimps, but I have never seen these for sale. I remember having shrimps, not prawns, for sunday tea when i WAS YOUNG, 70+ years ago and they tasted really lovely, nothing like todays tasteless prawns. Does anyone know where to buy the little beauties?

Don't know where you are in the UK, but I've seen the brown shrimps in Eddie's Seafood Market here in Edinburgh... had them when I was in last wek in fact.
Good shop, featured on Rick Stein's Food Heroes prog a few years back.
Wholemeal shrimps we call them, and we regularly buy them from Southern Fisheries in Eastbourne, which is run by local fishermen, but you can get them from fish shops all over the country or by post:
