On a recent holiday to France we had "Fish of the Day" which was La Lieu. I cannot find out what type of fish this was, can anyone help. By the way - It was delicious.

La Lieu means The Place. So I wonder if it was plaice. Was it a flat fish or a thick fish?
It's pollock. It should be "le lieu" though (other names are Colin or merlu).
Colin???

Really!! do you call cod Burt sometimes :)

LOL
lol! It's not pronounced like the english colin though! It's the nasal "in", that you english people often can't do....lol

Thank you. Yes it has been confirmed elsewhere it was Pollock.
I love pollock; always choose it when available at our local chippy.
It's a member of the cod family and is more flavoursome and slightly meatier.
I keep sending my OH out to catch some but he comes back with mackerel!
