why do they insist on putting corned beef in those stupid tins that are almost impossible to open without cutting yourself? That ridiculous key!
Sainsburys used to do theirs in a round tin but they stopped because they said people preferred the odd shape. Well they didn't ask me!
It can't be as easy to stack and transport so why do they do it?

just cut myself through the bl00dy bin bag!
What is the shape called anyway? does it have a name?
Is that 1 or two cuts , now
I'm getting concerned for your well being ;-)

Why not forget about opening the tins with the key ; and use a can opener instead . It works on that shape tin .
I realise that you may want the whole contents of a tin of corned beef, but Sainsburys (in the cooked meats section) do packs of corned beef,in either 3 or 6 slice packs.
If you need more you can get it at the Deli.
I haven't had a tin for yonks now, mainly because of the difficulties/dangers that you mention.
Use a normal tin opener, at both ends of the tin and then push the corned beef through the tube - works for me every time. Just make sure you use something to push with so that you don't cut your fingers.
All that hormone and antibiotic loaded MRM is bad for you anyway!

personally, i can't stand the stuff! But all the family love corned beef hash - or tater ash - and the meat needs to be chunky, so the slices won't do. I will open with a tin opener next time.
So noone knows why it's in that tin then?
Whilst on the subject, why do tins of tuna have no ring pulls?
Presumably because it would add to the price of manufacturing the can.
Oh, I see! Well I want ring pulls on my tuna tins.
All you who have cut your selves must be a bit clumsy. I use corned beef often and have only cut myself once. That was when I was p!ssed out of my brains after a friends wedding reception! You just have to take care.
It is easier said than done angie!

Those fish tins annoy me too, especially if it is a pull can and the tab comes off!!!!
Crisgal i 100% agree with you, ive often found that opening a can can be likened to fishing for pirahna' s with your bare hands or juggling chainsaws! Seriously though they should really make a can thats more accessable for the elderly and drunken uni teenagers!
I think the worse thing about them is the danger they pose when put in the rubbish bin. Worse than glass and they need wrapping in newspaper.

i'm glad it's not just me. You'd think the 'elf n safety lot would be onto 'em!
