chestnuts - how to cook

they are in the shells, i would like to roast some and boil some. can you tell me how long and what temp to roast at? and how long to boil for? apparantly they are nice boiled, peeled and dipped in salt.

If you buy chesnuts already bagged, the time and temperature will be on there. I bought some in sainsburys and they had to be in a 180 oven (for mine as is fan assisted) for a bout 15 minutes.
MAKE SURE YOU PIERCE THEM. The first time I cooked them I didnt, and had a few explode in my face - hurts a lot and not very nice.

not sure how to boil them though, sorry
