Questions questions questions....

Can you cook it (quinoa)in the mircowave? The packet doesn't say so but I cant see why you wouldn't be able to.

Ok so if you cant would it be ok to cook at home and then re heat in the microwave when I get to work for lunch?

And finally any recommended recepies? I've googled a couple but any tried and tested?..is it really as good as old Gillian Mc Keith makes out?!

Hi, Did you see the programme "Come dine with me", one of the girls made a meal which included quinoa and the others said it was brilliant. See this link....

http://www.scouseveg.co.uk/recipe-page/

I haven't tried it yet but it looked really good!
I eat it all the time, no you cannot make it in a microwave, like rice it needs to absorbe the water over a longish period. But it is fine to cook it the night before and reheat in a microwave.

As for the question, is it any good, well it is similar to rice and couscous in that on it's own it's very bland but takes on flavour very well. I always cook it using stock not plain water other wise it is life less.

In terms of recepies I don't have any to hand but my favourite is egg fried quinoa which can be found in the Food Doctor Diet Book, but other than that you can use it in much the same way as couscous.

On little tip is that I find any cooking instructions to vastly underestimate the time it takes to cook, always give it another 10 minutes or so over the packet instructions.
