Melv, I think the middle classes have moved on to freekeh now, quinoa is so last year...
Don't forget Romanesco and Edamame beans if you want to go full 'Black Lab and tweeds'.
^^^everyday Essentials for us Waitrose mob....not to mention Helda beans and kalettes, zoug and chermoulah...all of which are in my fridge and cupboards at the moment!
Quinoa is only for the desperate.

Tilda do a lovely sachet of quinoa with brown basmati rice. It's very tasty.

Yes, mamya, barley has thrown off its humble origins and is now widely used. To me, it - and quinoa - needs the flavour of umpteen other things to make it a worthwhile ingredient!

Thanks for the recipes, Tilly and all the replies. I'm on a low carb diet and finding it a struggle to find something to fill me up. Being a lover of bread and spuds, I have obviously got reduce my intake.

Vagus. There's 21g of carbs in 100g of quinoa, compared to 70g in rice.
...and it has a low glycemic index...
