Rice Pudding

I've just found out there's such a thing as Rice Milk. My question is, can you make rice pudding using rice milk? If so what is it like, does it just taste like rice?

eehee skreechy, its very watery you would use soya milk for a vegan rice pudding. It could be done but ice milk is actually very sweet with a slightly starchy aftertaste.

Thanks goodsoulette but do you not need to add sugar to normal rice pudding anyway? Couldn't you cut back on the sugar and add extra nutmeg, vanilla and some cardamom to compensate for the starchiness? Not that I'm all that interested in ever making rice pudding from scratch though, just curious. Although thinking about it, cardamom would be really nice in rice pudding.... I just invented that I think!
haha no you didnt just invent it, Indians make rice pudding with cardamon, they also do a rose water and pistachio which sounds nice, havent tried it. dont see why you couldnt use rice milk, but ive never tried it.
ditch the rice milk - make it with double cream - and die happy!

Thanks miss random, is that just with pistachio and rose water or is it rice pudding with them in? I might try and make some rice pudding at the weekend!

Yeah, I'd prefer cream myself but was just wondering about rice milk as I'd never heard of it till last night.
Ditch horrible watery rice milk and get Oatley milk ..it is lovely on anything from cereals to porridge and makes delicious rice pud ! You can get in Tescos or health food shops .Far superior to soya and any of these other milk substitutes .

yes with the rice pudding, cant imagine eating a bowl of pistachio's soaked in rose water, lol
Just been out and bought the Oatley milk Shaneystar 2 mentioned and she's right it is lovely ,so a big thanks from me!! I have spent months trying to find a decent substitute milk as I have been diagnosed lactose intolerant.If anyone is interested it comes in chocolate flavour as well.
It is an aquired taste ..but I love it .I can't stomach cows milk these days and have tried all sorts of other milks . I only use it in cooking though and as I said in porridge and on cereal..it isn't all that nice in tea or coffee though which can also be said for some of these other milks .So I drink black tea or coffee.Make sure you shake the box well before you use it and it is lovely as a hot drink with honey .It is good for high cholesterol too and as mine was slightly over the top decided to go with it and have had good results .
