I can't answer the cooking side but flaked rice pudding is just the same besides the texture and makes a nice change from the ordinary. Add some cinnamon, nutmeg and butter when cooking as well as plenty of white sugar. That bit I do remember. And keep a nice brown skin on top to finish it off, you can serve the rest underneath for people who don't like it.
