how do you make mash? i know how to do it, i was just wondering what touches people add. i have a friend who adds sugar and rosemary. i like to crack an egg into mine before i mix it up. my flatmate puts a tub of dominos garlic and herb dip in his. any other favourites?

My dad always puts two egg yolks and a dash of milk.

never thought of putting just yolk in. i can never split the white from the yolk anyway.
add cooked black pudding, or whole grain mustard, cooked fish, spring onions, cooked bacon, choritzo sausage, sun dried tomatoes, anything really.
Chopped raw onions, grated or cream cheese, garlic, dash of honey, spoonful of grainy mustard and a splish of worcester sauce

You lot are disgusting! Whatever happened to normal mashed potato with milk, butter and a pinch of seasoning?
Butter and white pepper for me.
depends what with really - i love cream and horseradish with beef, usually just cream, butter and loads of black pepper

What you talking about, fools? To make some terrifically tasty mashed taters simply season with salt and pepper, then add a tub of creme fraiche! You'll never go back...
I agree, if your mash needs embellishing you probably need to work at it a bit. Using enough salt & butter seems to be vital.
The quality of the butter's the only thing that changes with my mash. Sometimes i add lots of chives. Always lots of pepper too.
I add a knob of butter, an egg, enough milk to make it smooth and some pepper yum yummmmmmmmm all my family love my mash lol
