have asked this before, i know, but HOW long and HOW do you do an egg in a mug in a microwave to bung on a bit of toast for a quick snack (so you dont have to dirty a pan). i did it last nite again and after 45 seconds, BANG!!!!, exploding egg all over me microwave! was using a bone china mug, maybe it was too thin but,,,,,, next one i did for about 50 seconds and it was fine (well bit uncooked round edges but didn't explode all over kitchen). You MUST prick the yolk first and cover them.
It must be quicker to get a pan out than faff about with an egg in the microwave ! All to hit and miss for me ....enjoy your supper !
Sorry Poglet ..link won't work unless you remove the htm at the end.
only eat poached eggs now .
bring a pan of water to the boil ,whisk water to form a circular motion
turn heat off ,add egg into centre and leave for 4 or 5 mins .

perfect poached eggs every time , as for the microwave , just heat the beans in it !!

b...b.

Scramble 'em poglet, I use a glass mug (pint pot size) and the microwave does them perfect :-)

I also love poached eggs but I do mine the Delia Smith way ............... water brought up to the simmer in frying pan and then plop in the eggs, then just do the same as if you were frying them :-) .......... Oh, must be a non stick pan or you end up with poached egg white only :-(

How's the non smoking going poglet and more importantly how's the singing....... The only way I could reach high notes would involve the use of two bricks lol

cooking eggs in the microwave scares the bejesus out of me, i just boil it and mash it in a cup with a bit of butter, salt and pepper

yum!!

Well I knew about the swirly pan of water way of poaching, but I was never any good at it, so I tried PhilBy's way, and I don't think I will ever fry another egg again!!.

Sure, you lose a bit of white, and at the end the pan looks a right mess BUT the eggs are lovely done that way, and the pan just looks worse than it it - if anything, it is easier to clean.

for that second "it" read "is"

just had them fried tonight with my steak and mushrooms..... yum

philby, to be honest mate, i have really, really yearned for a ciggie over the last few days. i'm sure its getting harder instead of easier. it will be 4 months on 12 May tho so I will try for that deadline. i have managed high notes a few times and played badminton in garden today and could still breathe after 30 minutes! when you gonna start quitting?

Postdog, the fresher the egg the better. Also you will need to give the frying pan a quick clean if you need to do several eggs, I find a quick rinse under the tap with a wipe round with one of them green scourer things does well :-) YES! I do do the washing up (some time :-)

Puffing away as I type poglet but you dig deep mate, I had a load of stuff to drag out of the attic yesterday and I was wheezing & puffing like an old steam engine :-( Still not sure when I will try to kick the evil weed, every time I think about I find myself lighting up lol
